Peaceful & Pretty

I am overwhelmed with a sense of serenity when I stare into these beautiful photographs taken by Emily Gilbert. Designed by Ali Schwarz and styled by Rebecca Omweg, the peaceful palette and beautiful furnishings are absolutely heavenly. I just wish I could magically transport myself into the last photo and work from that desk all day. Not a bad view! Of course I'd turn around every few minutes, because the view in the other direction is equally as lovely!

Ikat Love

I loooove the mix of fabrics and colors in this living room from Homes & Gardens. The vibrant ikat patterns are so striking. I don't know which one I like better, the fabric on the sofa or the addition of the sweet, sweet yellow on those very comfy-looking ottomans. And the pillows? I won't even go there! The archway isn't exactly my style, but I love how the shape is mirrored in the tables. The fabric...and the colors...it just doesn't get much captivating than this!!

Morgan Harrison Home

I first fell in love with Michelle Morgan Harrison Home, a design firm based in New Canaan, CT, when I saw this beach home (last few pictures above) so long ago. I think I can actually credit Michelle for my first taste of the scrumptiousness that is aqua and orange. She recently re-launched her website, and it's filled with many more fabulous images filled with fabulous color. How stunning is the room with the peacock palette?! I'm especially loving the chair upholstered in Schumacher Chiang Mai Dragon! Lets see it again, it is that great. ;)

My 30th Birthday Giveaway!

So many stripes, so little time! This lovely living room filled from the October issue of Homes and Gardens was photographed by Tom Leighton and styled by Katrin Cargill. I would have thought this many stripes going that many ways would be crazy, but the subtle palette makes it work in a harmonious way. I love it!

Now on to other important matters. In ten short days I'll be turning 30! Yikes! I thought a fun thing to do would be to go shopping for you guys, some of my favorite people. I can't think of a better way to dip your toes in lovely turquoise waters than by painting display shelves or the inside of cupboards. The subtle touch of color is truly the perfect backdrop for allowing collectibles to shine or offsetting dishware. It seems like it could be a pretty simple project too (although I really shouldn't talk!), but one that leaves a big impact. Do you any of you have painted shelves in your home?
